Summer Internships at The Dakshana Foundation

The Dakshana Foundation is seeking to bring on 1-3 interns who would spend the summer drilling down on initiatives underway by a number of NGOs in India to try to improve education outcomes in government schools across India in 6th through 12th standard. Some NGOs like Khan Academy are doing this via developing content that can be delivered through technology. There are several other initiatives/pilots underway like Funtoot in Chhattisgarh, Hello English in Faridabad and Jaipur and for-profits like Mindspark.

The objective is to learn from the extensive experience various NGOs have had at attempting govt. school reforms in India. After Dakshana has gleaned what has and has not worked we will evaluate whether we should have an initiative to help improve results in government schools and, if we do decide to move forward, what the initial thrust/strategy should be.

The ideal intern will be an engineering or medical student who is an alum of Dakshana. The person should be prepared for extensive travel in remote geographies. The person would document (pictures, videos and writeup) what they observe along with their conclusions. Towards the end of the internship the group would summarize their findings and share them with Dakshana’s founders and senior management. Interns will have all expenses covered and be provided boarding, lodging and a stipend. To apply, pls send your resume/CV to Ms. Payal Vig at pvig@dakshana.org at the earliest along with the dates you would be available.
