Jyoti Biswas

JNV Nadia West Bengal
I'd like to become a Dakshana Scholar and hopefully attend Medical College

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
There are four members in my family. The head of our family is my mother, Beauty Biswas, who works as a tailor. My elder sister, Snigdha Biswas, has completed her B.Sc. graduation and is currently married. My younger brother, Pranto Biswas, is studying in Class VIII. My two maternal uncles are also well settled; one is currently studying for a job, while the other is a businessman. Both of my paternal uncles are small farmers. My father, Sanjib Biswas, passed away in 2023 due to a sudden heart attack.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
Dakshana’s main objective is to serve society by providing educational opportunities to talented students who are financially weak. Since childhood, I have dreamed of becoming a doctor and serving my locality through healthcare. I believe Dakshana’s scholarship test recognized my determination and strong desire to achieve this goal. If I had not been selected as a Dakshana Scholar, I would have continued my studies in JNV and prepared for NEET 2027 through self-study and hard work.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My ambition is to become an excellent cardiologist and serve my country in every possible way. I want India to become an example for other nations in the healthcare sector. I dream of a future where quality healthcare facilities reach every corner of the country. I also want to work toward making India one of the best healthcare centers in the world and represent my country with pride.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I want to establish my own hospital where no poor person loses their life because they cannot afford treatment. I also want to open branches of my hospital in remote villages so that rural people can access proper healthcare. Along with this, I wish to invest part of my income in children’s education and support social welfare activities. My ultimate goal is to serve society and humanity as much as possible.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
One of the most painful incidents in my life happened on 31st December 2023. While everyone was preparing to celebrate the New Year, my family suddenly received the news that my father had been hospitalized. At that time, I was in my hostel, while my mother, brother, and sister were crying at home. The next morning, on 1st January 2024, while everyone around me was celebrating, I received the heartbreaking news that my father had passed away. That moment changed my life completely. It taught me the value of responsibility, hard work, and family sacrifice, and inspired me to work harder to fulfill my parents’ dreams and make them proud.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy singing, drawing, and listening to music in my free time because it helps me relax and refresh my mind. I also like reading novels and playing badminton. Additionally, I am interested in improving my vocal skills and learning new creative activities.
