Samapti Das

JNV Murshidabad West Bengal
I'd like to become a Dakshana Scholar and hopefully attend Medical College

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
There are six members in my family. My father, Sandeep Das, is a poor farmer who has done Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). My mother, Sudha Das, completed her education up to Class 12 and is a housewife. I also have an elder sister, Swarnali Das, who is currently pursuing her Honours degree in Zoology. The eldest members of our family are my grandfather, who is also a farmer by profession, and my grandmother, who is a housewife. Despite financial difficulties, my family always supports and motivates me to achieve success in life.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
Dakshana Foundation selects students who are talented, hardworking, and financially needy. I believe I am one of those students because I have proved my capability through the NCST examination despite facing financial problems. Receiving the Dakshana Scholarship would help me pursue my dream of becoming a doctor by providing proper coaching, guidance, and resources. If I am not selected, I will continue studying hard at my parent JNV and work toward my goal through self-study, even though it may be more difficult without proper support.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My ambition in life is to serve my developing country by becoming a successful doctor. Many poor people suffer due to the lack of healthcare awareness and proper medical facilities. I want to provide affordable treatment to needy people and spread awareness about health and hygiene, especially in remote areas. I also dream of starting an NGO to support poor students and underprivileged people in society.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
Although India is developing rapidly, many localities still lack basic healthcare facilities. I have personally seen the suffering of people due to the absence of proper treatment. After becoming a successful doctor, I would like to establish healthcare centers, especially for women and children. Along with providing medical care, I also want to spread awareness about girl child education and support poor students through social work and NGOs, similar to the efforts made by organizations like Dakshana.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
In September 2024, my elder sibling met with a serious accident. During that difficult time, I witnessed the doctors working tirelessly to save lives and support patients and their families. Seeing their dedication and responsibility deeply inspired me. Although my sibling had to undergo surgery and suffered greatly, the doctors’ efforts motivated me to become a doctor who can help people during critical moments and provide the best medical care possible.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy reading novels and storybooks, especially science fiction and detective stories. My other interests and hobbies include gardening and listening to music, which help me relax and stay motivated.
