Yashwin V Kharvi

JNV Udupi Karnataka
I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
I’m from a nuclear family of four, living in the southern part of Karnataka near the sea shores. My father, Veeresh Kharvi, runs a clothing shop in the town 3 km away from our village, which is the main source of income. My mother, Chandravathi V. Kharvi, is a homemaker and also supports my father in the shop during her free time. My sister Drishan is studying in class 8 in a private school. Most of my immediate uncles are fishermen, and my aunts are homemakers.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I believe in my capabilities. If I get good teachers, resources, accommodation, and food at low cost—mainly the extraordinary study environment at Dakshana Valley—I can perform better in my exams. If I had not got this opportunity, I would have prepared for JEE Advanced with online educators. Otherwise, with my 7.2k rank in KCET, I would have gotten a good course in a good college in my home state. I also got a 700 rank in IMU-CET, through which I could have gotten a good IMU college.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My aim in life is to do startups and build my own unicorn company as soon as possible.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
After a few years, if I have all the things I dreamed of and if I have enough resources to help society and the world, then I will. Right now, I don’t know how exactly I will support society, but once I gain knowledge and understand society’s needs, I will plan how I can help.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
In my whole academic career, I had never topped my school. Even after coming to JNV, I remained an average student till class 11. I scored decent marks but never dreamed of being the topper. In the final year of JNV, I decided to score well and worked very hard. Finally, when the board result came, I became the school topper. This motivated me to attempt JEE in my drop year and improve further. I learned that hard work can change anything.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
My interest is playing football, the game I love the most. My hobbies are playing video games and boating in the river in free time. I also spend time doing basic football drills, tossing the ball and shooting it against the wall.
