Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My name is Sumit Kumar. My father’s name is Mr. Akhilesh Kumar. He is a farmer and owns 1.5 bigha of land on which we grow seasonal vegetables. My mother’s name is Mrs. Sunita Devi. She is a housewife and helps us in farming most of the time. I am the only child of my parents.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I heard about the Dakshana Foundation. They provide educational support to students who do not belong to well-settled families. They select those who are capable and need educational support. If I am not selected as a Dakshana Scholar, then I will continue with online and self-study as per my financial condition. My parents will definitely try to arrange something for me, but the reality is that they cannot afford coaching for JEE.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
I want to become a Computer Science or Data Science engineer from IIT Kanpur. I want to make my family feel proud of me. Then I want to prepare myself to become the best engineer in the field of Quantum Physics.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
In order to contribute to society, I want to do something so that people do not face the problems that I have faced. If I am able to provide educational and financial support to even one person, it will be an achievement for me.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
My parents and their support, along with my situation, motivate me more than any incident. But once, my principal told me, “Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t possibly live long enough to make all of them yourself.” That also inspired me.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
My hobby is knowing about new inventions and achievements in the field of quantum research. I like studying quantum physics. Recently, I studied quantum entanglement. I also like reading Hindi novels.
