Ayush Kumar
JNV Surajpur (Sarguja) Chhattisgarh I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
There are five of us in our family. My father's name is Subhash Chand Jaiswal. He is a farmer and also works as a laborer. My mother's name is Kavita Jaiswal, and she is a housewife. My sister's name is Arti Jaiswal. My older brother’s name is Ashish Jaiswal, and he is currently in college.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
My father is a farmer. We own very little land, and he also works as a laborer to fund our education. For people like us, education is the only way to move forward in life. Further education requires money, which Dakshana supports. It also provides IIT coaching. It is my good fortune that, after Navodaya, I became a part of the Dakshana Scholarship. If I hadn’t received the Dakshana Scholarship, I would have prepared for other scholarship tests to achieve my life goals. In life, the loser is the one who doesn’t fight hard.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My dream is that when I achieve something in life, I will first give my parents and sisters all the happiness they expected from me. They put their own sorrows aside to fulfill ours. I want to change the mindset of those who say that children forget their parents after growing up. I want to become such a person that people, after seeing me, will ask how I was before and what I have become today.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I will try to make the government primary school in my village — where I studied till fifth grade — the best school so that village children can get the right direction. Usually, after eighth grade, people leave studies and start working as laborers. I want to change this thinking. A truly successful person develops their village along with themselves.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
To educate me, my parents had to work in other people’s houses. They always believed that their children should not face the hardships they faced. They never buy new things for themselves, but they always fulfill our needs. My father is sixty years old and still goes to work. My mother often tells me that before I was born, she used to see other children going to school and dreamt of teaching her children. This couplet motivates me: “I will get clothes for my mother and a car for my father very soon. Don’t worry, mother, I will pass IIT very soon.”
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I really enjoy reading, travelling and learning new things. I also enjoy watching comedy videos, Kabali and reading books.
