Sunjan Modak
JNV Hooghly West Bengal I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father’s name is Suptarim Modak. He is a daily wage worker and a humble, honest, and caring father. My mother is a housewife and a very loving and caring person. She likes to cook good dishes for us. My uncle is an acupressure therapist.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I should be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship because I want to prepare for JEE Mains and Advanced, but my family cannot afford quality coaching classes that would benefit my preparation. I believe that with Dakshana’s good coaching facilities and environment, I will surely perform very well in the exams. If I am not selected as a Dakshana Scholar, I plan to use online resources to support my JEE preparation from home.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
I want to achieve a life where I won’t have to worry about my or my family's finances, where I get to spend time with my loved ones—my family and friends. I want time for myself, and I want to work at a place that doesn't feel like a burden.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
If I become successful enough, I would like to support at least two or more students of my school who are needy. I'd help them with their financial needs for their education so they can lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
There are many such incidents, but I recall a recent one. My family keeps changing rented houses as we don't have a permanent house. Last time, we moved into a tile-roofed house. Every morning, I often bumped my head into the low doorframe. It reminded me daily about my family's condition and pushed me to work harder.
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I like listening to songs, reading scientific articles and tinkering with computers. I also like watching sci-fi movies, anime and reading manga.
