Vaibhav Kumar

JNV Ajmer Rajasthan
I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My name is Vaibhav Kumar. We are 4 members in our family. My father's name is Hemant Kumar; his occupation is color painting. He is not a permanent labourer, and sometimes he is not able to find work. He has passed class 12. My mother's name is Renu; she is a housewife. My brother's name is Prashant Kumar; he is 5 years older than me and is currently preparing for government jobs.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
Just like the name Dakshana, this scholarship program is for talented students who cannot pay fees due to their financial background, and I am one of them. I am a JEE aspirant and a dropper, and I have all the qualities required for this program. If I am not selected for this scholarship, I will complete my preparation through online courses and study material.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My ambition in life is to become a successful engineer. I never want to waste the scholarship that Navodaya and the Dakshana Foundation spent on me, and I want to give a rich lifestyle to my family.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
When I become successful, I will first make people around me aware of the right way of education and the right direction. There are many ways to help society, but I think education is the best way because you are not just helping a student for one time — you are giving them a path to live life. Just like Dakshana, if I am successful enough, I will give my best to provide the best education to those who deserve it.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
When I was in class 12, I went home for vacation and saw my father suffering from a leg injury due to an accident. The doctor advised him to take bed rest for six months. My father’s income is the only source in my home. When my family was going through that situation, I realized that they might not be able to support my further education like JEE. At that time, I decided to do my best. I worked hard for JEE, and I still remember those sleepless nights — but they were worth it.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
Chess is my favourite game and I spend some time listening to audio stories, reading novels and doing self-study.
