Swabhiman Prajapati
JNV Mirzapur Uttar Pradesh I'd like to become a Dakshana Scholar and hopefully attend Medical College
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father used to teach tuition in the village, but we lost him in 2019 in a bus accident. My mother is a housewife. She is the one whose existence motivates me the most. Being a single parent is tough, and it gets even tougher when things are financially unaffordable. But my mother is so strong; she never lets us feel sad about anything. I have one elder brother and one elder sister. My sister studied in Vidyagyan Leadership Academy through scholarship and is now doing a Bachelor in Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) from NIFT Delhi on a Shiv Nadar Foundation scholarship. My brother studied in JNV Mirzapur, and now he is doing his Bachelor of Technology from IIEST Shibpur, Kolkata.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
Since childhood, I have studied free of cost because of my ability. I was selected for Navodaya in 6th grade, which itself is a high-level competition for a class 5 student. My parents did not have much money for higher education, but they invested their time and support to help me get a quality education. I believe I should be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship so that my hard work can lead to a better future. If I am not selected, I will study at home because my mother cannot afford to send me to expensive coaching. She trusts my hard work.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
I want to become a successful doctor. I have seen people suffering from various health issues, and I really want to help them. There is also a myth that doctors take bribes and charge high fees that poor people cannot afford. I want to prove this wrong. I plan to open a hospital after my MBBS and higher studies and give free treatment to poor people twice a week.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
When I become successful, I want to fix the open drainage system in my village, which causes stagnant water and water-borne diseases. After I start earning, I want to invest some money in making a proper drainage system because the government is not doing it. I also want to help Navodayan students who have potential but lack proper guidance and money. I want to open a small old-age home where old people can live happily because many people treat them badly.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
As I’ve mentioned that I love to help people, this incident is similar. Once when I was a kid, I saw a road accident in which a victim’s leg was bleeding badly. Nobody dared to help him and he was screaming for a vehicle to get to a hospital. This incident disturbed me so much because I couldn’t help him — I was a kid and not independent, and I didn’t have money or knowledge of first aid. This inspired me to gain knowledge about medical emergencies and first aid.
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
My interest lies in making short-term goals that help me achieve my long-term goals. Being a student, I believe in setting everyday goals and following them strictly. My hobby is helping people as much as I can.
