Shikha Kiran
Vidyagyan School Bulandshahar Uttar Pradesh I'd like to become a Dakshana Scholar and hopefully attend Medical college
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My family constitutes of five members including me. My father helps a Gram Panchayat secretary with paper works and other similar stuff. He doesn't have a fixed salary but I must admit that he fulfils all our needs fairly well with all that he earns. My mother is a homemaker and a great mentor to me. She keeps my morale high in all good and bad situations. My sister studies in 7th grade in a government school near our home. She loves art, craft and singing. My grandfather is an old but jolly person who loves to interact with people of different ages.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
It has always pained me to see my father struggling to manage all household and external expenses all by himself. As a child, I always looked for ways to help him out. I got my first chance to do this when I got admitted to VidyaGyan. I truly believe it was a golden opportunity and seven years there have made me able enough to be a Dakshana Scholar. I look upon Dakshana as an assurance of my admission into my dream medical college. Also, my family would never be able to afford such world-class coaching for my NEET preparation. That's why, I believe that I should be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
Like ant other NEET aspirant, my ambition is to get into one of the best government medical college, become highly qualified doctor, serve the people and make my parents proud. But above all, the goal that keeps me going is to "Have No Regrets" in my life. Whatever I do, wherever I go, I just want to accomplish things with all my heart and soul.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
In this growing self-centered world, we need people who practice compassion. People who empathize rather than showing sympathy. And I don't see a better way of doing this than being a Doctor. For the same reason, I want to be a doctor who not only gives medicines, but also is a good listener and a healer. I'll make sure I make the best use of my learnings by helping all those in pain. Along with that, I want to contribute in all possible manners to institutions like VidyaGyan and Dakshana who give wings to millions of students' dreams.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
Once, when I was in 7th grade, I scored very poorly in all of my subjects which was very unusual for me. I was scared even to imagine how my father would react after seeing my result. Surprisingly enough, on the day of PTM, he didn't look upset at all. Instead, he took me to a restaurant and bought me my favorite things. Just when I was wondering about this ridiculous behavior, he said, "Don't think that you received this treat for not scoring well and that you'll get it every time you get a result like this. Take it as a termination to all your bad results. Put in you best efforts and the results will show up naturally." I still cannot imagine a better way in which he could've scolded me. He might not remember it now but this incident has been my guardian angel for all these years which inspires me to be better everyday.
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
My hobby is to dance and sketch things randomly. Also, I love to be outdoors in nature and simply observe things.
