Poorvitha H B

JNV Chamarajnagar Karnataka
I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father is a farmer, and our land is unirrigated, so we are almost dependent on rainfall and crop yield. My mother is a homemaker, but she helps my father too. I have a younger brother who is in class 10. My grandmother also lives with us.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
My father is a farmer with unirrigated land, and we are completely dependent on crop yield. It will be difficult for my parents to afford a good college. This scholarship may help me clear the entrance exams for engineering colleges funded by the government. Otherwise, it will be difficult for me to get admission.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My ambition in life is to make my parents proud through my work, uplift my family economically, and provide good education to my younger brother.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I want to give back to the institutes from which I have studied, even if it seems small to them. I am sure those institutes will provide good education to the needy. As a wise man once said, “If we provide fish as a meal for a person, it is only for a time. If we teach him fishing, it is for his lifetime.”

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
My grandma is in her 90s. She still does all her work. She once told me that “we should give our best and we should not think about the result.” If we are free from the thought of getting results, we will definitely do better.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I am quite interested in knowing new things, and playing volleyball is my hobby.
