Pooja Priyadarshini Sethi

JNV Balasore Odisha
I'd like to become a Dakshana Scholar and hopefully attend Medical College

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father's name is Prasanta Kumar Sethi, and he is employed in the private sector. In his free time, he likes to read newspapers. My mother's name is Urmila Sethi, and she is a homemaker who loves cooking a variety of dishes for everyone in our household. I have a younger brother named Suryanshu Kumar Sethi, who is currently studying in the 8th grade. I do not have any immediate maternal or paternal uncles.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I come from a family that lacks sufficient financial resources to afford advanced learning materials or specialized coaching for competitive examinations. If I am awarded the Dakshana Scholarship, I will do my absolute best to utilize this opportunity. Studying on such a world-class platform will help me excel in my career and achieve my dream of becoming a successful doctor. If I am not selected to be a Dakshana Scholar, I will continue my senior secondary education at my parent JNV.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My ambition in life is to become a skilled doctor and serve society to the best of my abilities using my medical expertise. I deeply want to support my parents and grandparents by looking after their health, managing our finances, and contributing in every way possible. Ultimately, I want to uplift my family's living conditions while ensuring that the people in my local community stay healthy and health-conscious.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
When I become successful, I would like to contribute to society and the world by donating a portion of my income to support the education of underprivileged children, as well as funding care homes for the elderly and orphanages. Additionally, I want to contribute to animal shelters to aid the rescue and rehabilitation of stray animals injured in road accidents. Because my village currently lacks medical professionals, becoming a successful doctor will allow me to provide essential medical treatment to poor rural families who otherwise lack access to proper healthcare facilities.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
Nowadays, reading the newspapers reveals heartbreaking stories of individuals abandoning their elderly parents in old age homes or leaving them in unfamiliar places where they cannot find their way back. This ongoing social issue has had a profound impact on me, and I deeply desire to help senior citizens who are left isolated. Furthermore, on a personal level, I lost my maternal uncle to cancer because we failed to detect the disease early enough—largely because no one in our family belongs to the medical field. This loss inspired me to become a doctor—the first in my family—so that my loved ones and those in my community never have to experience losing someone simply due to a lack of medical awareness and timely diagnosis.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
My main hobbies are drawing and reading books. Additionally, I enjoy singing and have a great love for traveling.
