JNV West Champaran Bihar I'd like to become a Dakshana Scholar and hopefully attend Medical College
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father's name is Vijay Thakur, and he is a farmer. My mother's name is Nikee Devi, and she is a homemaker. My father supports our household through farming. I have twin brothers who are 13 years old and studying in the 8th standard at a village school. My mama (maternal uncle) and my chacha (paternal uncle) are also farmers. Overall, my family relies entirely on farming as our primary occupation.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
Sir/Madam, I belong to a lower-middle-class family. I cannot afford expensive coaching institutes, whereas Dakshana provides excellent hostel facilities and high-quality education. It is a wonderful opportunity for me and other students like me who come from underprivileged backgrounds. If I am not selected, I will continue my studies at my parent JNV. However, the highly competitive and healthy academic environment that the Dakshana Institute offers is something I cannot get at my parent JNV.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My ambition in life is to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor and serving the people of my country, as well as the wider world. Many people cannot afford medical checkups or treatment in good hospitals; they are often turned away, which tragically leads to preventable deaths. If I become a doctor, I will treat these underprivileged people free of cost so that they can live a healthy and proper life.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
Coming from an underprivileged background, I have seen firsthand what life is like in an environment where children long for an education. When I become successful, my primary goal will be to provide quality education to families facing severe financial crises. I will provide free medical treatment to poor families, and I will also sponsor the education of talented students who have potential. By doing this, I hope to positively impact and transform our society.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
Every year, my parent JNV conducts an alumni meet. At these meets, I met former students who came from very poor families but are now holding top positions in their respective fields—achievements that an ordinary family could normally never afford to facilitate for their child. This deeply motivated me to pursue higher studies. Secondly, playing in a regional-level badminton tournament taught me patience and resilience for my future. It showed me the direct results of hard work, which heavily inspires my current preparation.
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
My main interest and hobby is playing badminton, alongside focusing on my studies. Additionally, I enjoy eating good food and have a keen interest in learning new things about science to expand my knowledge.
