Megha Berman

Prayas Residential School Ambikapur Chhattisgarh
I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father's name is Udeshwar Prasad Barman. He is a labourer and a 45-year-old graduate who likes cooking at home. My mother's name is Gayatri Barman, and she likes tailoring. I have one elder brother, 25 years old, pursuing B.A.; he likes playing the flute, badminton, and football. I have two elder sisters—one is an MBBS student, and the other has just completed her law degree. My uncles are farmers.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I think I have potential and I can work very hard to get my dream college. I will try my best to utilize the time. I will make sure that if Dakshana chooses me as its scholar, I will stand on the expectations of Dakshana and my family members. If Dakshana had not selected me, I would have taken a drop and prepared for JEE by myself at home.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My current ambition is to become an IITian and pursue my engineering with my best effort so that I can get a stable job. When I save enough money, I will start a business to give jobs to poor and talented people. When my business grows, I want to invest my money to open an institution like Dakshana to promote the best quality education for those who cannot afford it.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I would start a business in which I employ poor people from my village. I will open a foundation where poor children can study for free. I will open a hospital with my elder sister for poor people and also start coaching classes for talented but financially weak students.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
A few years ago, my father met with an accident. None of my family members, i.e., my uncles, helped us in our worst financial situation. Then I decided to do better in my life. When I look at the poor people of my village, I feel like I must help them but stop myself because I don’t have money. When I look at any big person, I feel like I too want that respect for myself and my parents. All the above situations motivate me every time.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
My hobbies are painting, writing diary, and vlogging. I like music very much and also playing badminton.
