Kuldeep Das
JNV Purulia West Bengal I'd like to become a Dakshana Scholar and hopefully attend Medical College
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father's name is Karneswar Das. He is about 52 years old and a farmer on our own land. My mother's name is Kalpana Das Sen. She is about 40 years old and is a housewife. I have an older brother who is studying in college. Along with them, my grandmother also lives with us; she is about 72 years old and helps my mother with household work. All my uncles (mama and chacha) are farmers—some work on their own fields and some work on others' fields.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I live in an area where there is no proper internet connection, roads, or communication facilities. Education is not well developed in my village. If Dakshana provides me a scholarship and I become an MBBS doctor, I will bring my family there and become an inspiration to the children of my village. If Dakshana does not provide me the scholarship, I may forget my aim and do something other than medical.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
I have very few goals in my life. First, I want to improve my family’s background and solve the problems they have been facing for years. I also want to help local people in various ways.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
If I become a successful man, I will inspire students from not-so-wealthy families by showing them the power of education. I will tell them my story of hard work and sacrifices, coming from a family where education is the only weapon to fight against poverty.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
One day I went to a hospital for my fever. I saw an old couple crying. When I asked the reason, they told me the old man needed immediate admission, but the doctor asked for money first, which they couldn’t afford. I felt very sad and decided to become a doctor. That day motivated me.
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I want to watch cricket matches, play cricket, do gaming, catch fish, do gardening, and sometimes I sing for my happiness.
