Ayush Verma

Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Dr.Mukherjee Nagar Delhi
I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father’s name is Mr. Shivnath Verma. He is the most educated person in our home. He is very hardworking and works in the fields as well as teaches in a private intermediate school in our village. My mother’s name is Mithilesh Kumari. She is a housewife and also works in the fields. My parents want their children to follow the right path through hard work and honesty. They always teach us to work honestly. My brother’s name is Arman, and my sister’s name is Nidhi Verma. Both study in the village. I am currently living with my maternal uncle for four years. He likes to travel to different religious places.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I deserve this scholarship because I fulfill all the criteria according to Dakshana, and I have reached this point without any special support. Coming from a lower-middle-class family, I have faced many problems. If I get a chance to study in Dakshana Valley, I will be able to uplift myself and other underprivileged students. If I am not selected, I will still work hard to achieve my goal. Dakshana is just a path toward my dream.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My first ambition is to become an IITian so I can uplift my family's condition. Then I want to enter politics, step by step reach the CMO of UP, become Education Minister of India, and finally reach the Prime Minister's Office.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I would contribute to my society by helping poor and talented students who have talent in any field, not only academics. I will provide a proper platform so that no talent is wasted due to lack of resources. I also want to reform the education system of my state and country because if we give proper education, people will not need heavy support—they will be able to find their own path. Human beings need two basic things: Education and Health. I want to fulfill these two needs for every person in our country.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
When I was in class 6, I told my family that I wanted to be a cricketer, but they denied it because they didn’t have enough money and resources. There was no cricket academy near my district. Because of this, I left my house, but my family caught me. Then I decided that I will open a cricket academy and a school in my village as well as in district Basti. This always motivates me. I also faced many problems studying in an English-medium school. Private schools demanded high fees, so I had to go to a government school in Delhi. Then I decided I will break this practice by opening a school in my village.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I like to play cricket, play guitar at midnight on the balcony, and write diary entries about major incidents in my life.
