JNV Kangra Himachal Pradesh I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father’s name is Sh. Ajay Kumar. He is a daily-wage labourer. My mother’s name is Smt. Anju Bala and she is a mini-anganwadi worker. I also have a brother named Akshay who studies in class 11 in a government school. He likes games like volleyball but doesn’t like studying much. And then there’s me—after all, bada beta hoon ghar ka.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I should be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship because I want to be in IIT next year. For that, I need a good coaching institute, but my family background is not strong, so my parents cannot send me to any private coaching. If I don’t get the scholarship, I will choose a normal government college nearby in my district.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
I want to earn a lot of money by becoming an engineer — a software engineer — and for that I have to get into a good IIT so that I can marry a nice partner and make my parents happy. At the end of the day, my top priority is my parents' happiness.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I would collaborate with DAAN, or I would start donating my money to poor people. I like Mr. Monish Pabrai’s idea very much, so I will also try to start an organization like Dakshana. I will give free education and open big hospitals where I will provide free medicines and free treatment.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
I was about 2.5 years old when my eardrum got damaged, and I lost my full hearing potential. It ruined my childhood. Even my friends made fun of me. My parents tried to make me better, and at last they used their savings of many years for my ear operation. We all thought it would make me normal, but unfortunately the operation was unsuccessful, and the eardrum was damaged again. As I have disability in both ears, my parents can’t afford another operation, but I want my parents to be happy. I want to give them all the happiness in this world. I don’t want them to feel poor. I want to make them proud, and I will. Even if I don’t get a good college, I will still work hard and earn a lot of money so that I can make my parents happy, who gave their all to make me happy.
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I have interest in watching anime, web series, and movies. I like to read novels too. I like to sing songs, and I even write my own songs and give music to them. I also like video games.
