Adheesh Khelkar
JNV Nagpur Maharashtra I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father's name is Milind Khelkar. He is a farmer and a labourer too, to add more to what he earns. He works very diligently for the sake of our family. He is 12th pass but due to financial problems, he couldn't continue his education. My mother's name is Sonu Khelkar. She is a housewife. She is 10th pass and wasn't able to pursue further education because of family problems. My little sister's name is Agraja Khelkar. She is in 6th class. She likes to dance. My father can't go a day without a newspaper, and my mother likes reading peace-themed books. My uncle is a farmer in my father's native village. My maternal uncle is an employee in a firm that constructs houses.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
Me getting the Dakshana Scholarship would support my family to a great extent, focusing more on my sister's education and reducing their stress about my expenses. It will also boost their dreams of leading a happy family life. They always motivate me. I want them to lead a happy and peaceful life in the future. It is my obligation to do it for them for inculcating so many values in me. If I had not been selected, I would have tried my best not to trouble them with useless requests and would have given my best in the preparation through minimum expense.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
I am a space enthusiast. I will become an aerospace engineer or something suitable to fulfill what I crave for. Being a responsible citizen is another ambition of mine. Most significantly, I want to give my lovely parents what they deserve. It will be possible if I bring financial stability to my family. My sister's education is also one of my priorities.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I have always thought of donating the surplus amount that I earn to people who are in need or to any charity or NGO which does it like Dakshana. I want to make my people aware of radical things, for example, their right to vote by choice and not for subsidies. I would contribute to the world by innovating something in science or by any necessary change with the help of my vision.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
Being privileged enough to get an education is a blessing for me, which I am grateful for. I have always heard my mother saying that she wasn't able to complete her education due to some reason. It has motivated me to do it for her and my father who witnessed the same. Because they are aware of the value of education, they are doing everything possible to get me the best. I am determined to do what they wished but couldn't.
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
Reading books, specifically science fiction, playing basketball, and researching the lives of revolutionary scientists and their work in science. Watching science fiction movies. Searching for physics in everything.
