Dipak Sarkar
JNV Bongaigaon Assam I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT
Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My father's name is Sudhir Sarkar. He is like God to me. He has sacrificed many things to make me what I am today. My mother's name is Minati Sarkar. She is a housewife and also like God to me. She loves me very much, as I do her. I have two brothers, both younger than me—the first is 2 years younger, and the second is 8 years younger. My parents love me very much, and I love them too. Both of them are strict and do not like indiscipline. My uncle is a shopkeeper who sells plastic products.
Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
I belong to a middle-class family, and my parents are not capable of providing proper coaching for JEE. I think I have the potential to do it, but without the required resources, it will be difficult for me to achieve it. The Dakshana scholarship can provide me with what I need. If I were not selected as a Dakshana scholar, I would try alternative sources like online platforms that provide affordable coaching.
Q3. What is your ambition in life?
I don’t think of ambition just as being an engineer or anything specific. For me, ambition means being in a better position in life in the future—rich, knowledgeable, and powerful—to fulfill my own and my family’s needs.
Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I belong to a society where there is a lack of awareness and educated citizens. When I become successful, I will try to make the youth in my society more aware and educated. I will help them achieve their goals by sharing my knowledge or financial support. I will also spread awareness about institutions like JNV that provide free and quality education.
Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
My motivation comes from my own people—my parents, grandparents, and relatives. They have always supported me whenever I was on the right path. They contributed to making me who I am today. For them and their well-being, I will give my full potential to become a better version of myself.
Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I am interested in listening to music, playing, and watching cricket with my friends. I am also interested in learning new things.
