Aarna Guruprasad

JNV Bengaluru Urban Karnataka
I'd like to become a Dakshana scholar and hopefully attend IIT

Q1. Introduce your Family to us ?
My dad, Guruprasad is an avid marathon runner and loves to participate in numerous running events. He is a very disciplined man and I aspire to be as healthy and as disciplined as he is. My mother, Rajeshwari is a science teacher and is very dedicated towards making her classes fun and interesting for her students. She pushes me to do my best when things get hard and advises me to do my duty without thinking about the results.

Q2. Why should you be awarded the Dakshana Scholarship?
If I've truly put in my best effort into studying and doing well on the exam, then I deserve to be a Dakshana scholar. Anyone else who has done the same rightfully deserves the Dakshana scholarship. One of my aims in life is to make the best use of every opportunity that comes my way. If I'm awarded the Dakshana scholarship, I will put in my best effort to not let it go wasted.

Q3. What is your ambition in life?
My ambition in life is to gain as much knowledge and experience that I can possibly gain and improve from every mistake. I know that I have only a finite number of heartbeats and I don't want to waste a single one of them. I want to put in my best effort in every activity that I do. I want to live a joyful and fruitful life and have an impact on the people around me. I want others to have a similar, if not, better life than I do, for no one should miss out on the chance to live a long and happy life.

Q4. How would you like to contribute to the society and the world when you become a successful?
I realize that knowledge is the greatest wealth a person can own for no thief can steal it, no siblings can divide it and it keeps on expanding as we give it. The root cause of all problems in this world is ignorance. Hence, to improve this world, everyone must get a chance at education. Some parts of the world are in urgent need of education and enlightenment. Just like Dakshana, I will set up schools to educate the poorest of children. Except, this would be on a much larger scale. I will set up schools in the remotest parts of the world.

Q5. Describe an incident in your life that has motivated/inspired you to do better
When I was younger, my mother was posted to work in a very remote place. I lived with her for six years over there. The local schools were in a terrible condition and it seemed like the whole area where I lived was blanketed in ignorance and the entire town almost lived under a rock. They had only the slightest of ideas on how the world was outside. When my mother was posted to Bangalore, I thanked God for not letting me end up in the same situation. I realized from then on, that every person should have equal rights to access knowledge and facilities irrespective of their origin.

Q6. Tell us about your interests and hobbies?
I love reading novels and newspapers. I am equally interested in listening to music and talking with my mother. Now that I must prepare for JEE, I love to solve physics and math problems. Writing poetry and stories and playing chess are some skills that I'm keen on developing.
